Leaving America
My last day in the States was the kind of day that makes one love to live in Michigan, middle of November, sunny, 58 degrees Fahrenheit, not a cloud in the sky. A memorable day that will linger in my soul for months. The flight to Thailand was long, the first leg was 12 hours from Detroit to Narita, Japan. The 2nd leg was Japan to Bangkok, Thailand, arriving 23 hours after I left the USA...It takes a long time to fly half way around the world. My younger, college-student son and my older son, a student attending law school remained behind, living their lives and I left my old life behind, ready to start a new adventure with my husband. I was nervous, anxious and excited, all at the same time. My husband accepted a job transfer to Thailand, but I had no idea what my new life would look like. I left a full-time job at a Catholic boy's school, and a varsity high school girl's coaching job. I even had to find a new home for my golden retriever! One never knows when one door closes, what new window will open.
